Big Lake Pointe is set to be St. Albert's first affordable family rental housing complex.
The site will offer easy access to St. Albert commercial and retail outlets and human services in the North Ridge area.
Since the project was first proposed in 2009, St. Albert City Council has purchased 3.2 acres of land for this development.
The St. Albert Housing Society is working with a private developer to build affordable and market rental units on the site, allowing a mix of rental housing options in this growing neighbourhood.
The Society is currently hopeful for the approval of funding through the joint Federal/Provincial Affordable Housing Capital Initiative Grant program allowing Big Lake Pointe to offer 78 affordable units.
